Why do this?

I've questioned starting a blog for a couple of years now. Still not sure why I would do this but here goes. I don't know what to blog about but I will start with a little history. I am a retired school teacher who now spends my time riding horses, sewing, reading, gardening and then doing something with the produce from that garden. In general, just enjoying life at the end of a dead end dirt road. Most of the time I have way to many projects going on and really need to finish them. Maybe that is what I'll use this blog for, to document the completion of said projects.

My newest interest is really not new, just revisited. Quilting both sane and crazy. I am learning new embroidery stitches and techniques. I'll be sharing some of those here as I go.

Hmmmm... Now what?!?! Well next I'll try to learn how to add photos to this so that I can share the old projects I have finished and new ones just getting started. So let's give it a try. First is a little pieced ghost that will eventually be part of a quilted mantle scarf.

It comes from a book titled 501 Quilt Blocks from Better Homes and Gardens. I bought the book like 10 years ago and have never made anything from it so decided it was time! Don't cha think? There are five more blocks to go and then will put the scarf together. Next up is a crazy patch quilt block. There are five of these blocks that I recieved in an exchange years ago and once again never did anything with them. It's time they had a purpose besides just taing up space, so I am now embellishing them with a variety of embroidery and bead work. When I am through I hope to put them together into a runner. I am a bit disappointed in this one since the hand work doesn't seem to show very well. But for a first try at CQ it isn't all bad and I'll definitely be doing more.

Well, since I am not sure about doing this and this being my first entry, I'm signing off for the evening, but I'll be back.

  1. Welcome to blogland! You're off to a great start. The ghost is cute and I'm loving your crazy patchwork piece. Amazing stitches!

I see that you're a no-reply blogger... so I'm replying to the comment you left on my blog, here. Hope that's okay.

LOL... no, you're definitely not the only one! I have the hardest time parting with any bits of fabric because I know just how versatile scraps can be. They are like a sprinkling of fairy dust in the fabric world! ;o)

Glad I've given you an idea for your scraps. I would love to see what you will make! I have plans to do some more notecards and gift tags, too. Ideas are bubbling up like crazy and more scrap sewing is ahead. :o)

    Wishing you a lovely week,
